Experienced
Steve Alm is a former Judge, Prosecutor, and United States Attorney with the experience, integrity, and proven record we need to make Hawaii safer and restore trust to the Prosecutor’s office.
Born in Honolulu and raised in Manoa and Kaimuki, Steve joined the Honolulu Prosecutor's office in 1985, where he served as Director of the District and Family Court Division, supervising 31 deputy prosecutors.
Professional
In 1994, President Bill Clinton selected Steve to serve as the United States Attorney for Hawaii, where as the top federal prosecutor he investigated and prosecuted political corruption, drug trafficking, and organized crime.
While U.S. Attorney, he brought together many law enforcement and social service partners to start the first Weed & Seed effort which reduced crime in Chinatown and Kalihi-Palama by over 70% in three years.

In 2001, Steve became the first career prosecutor to be appointed to the First Circuit Court in Honolulu.
With over 30 years as a Deputy Prosecutor, the United States Attorney for Hawaii, and a Judge, Steve has more experience putting violent and dangerous criminals behind bars than any other candidate for Prosecutor.
Steve and Haunani Alm married in 1979 and are the proud parents of a son, Chris.
